How to Increase Business, Sales, and Success, and Guarantee Results

If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes. Andrew Carnegie

The following techniques when applied consistently, are guaranteed to get results in achieving greater business success, increased sales and personal success. Consistency is key. Be specific and realistic. Practice these techniques daily. These are the same strategies I applied in 1995 when I wanted to enter the speaking business. I was skeptical and wondered if these techniques would really work. By 1996 I was speaking in Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales as an international speaker. My point is not to brag. My point is that if you will diligently practice the following affirmations, visualizations and action steps, you will attract more business success and personal success. These strategies can work for everyone from salespeople, business owners, entrepreneurs and executives, to managers, supervisors and team leaders. The first step is to believe. Believe that you can do it.

When writing down affirmations for your goals, start with different colored index cards. For example, green for career and financial goals, yell169Bow for health/fitness, pink for relationships and blue cards for spiritual goals. Using different colors sends a visual signal to your brain that you're setting goals in various areas of your life.

Do not have more than nine affirmations or goals for all categories total at any given time. You don't want to become overloaded and give up before you've even begun. On the front of each index card, write the words "I am." These are the 2 most important words when writing affirmations for your goals. Make sure each affirmation incorporates the "3 P's:" 1) Personal 2) Present Tense 3) Positive

Personal: your affirmations should apply only to you because you cannot change others. Thus, you would not have an affirmation stating, "I am happily enjoying my daughter's clean room." You don't know if your daughter will clean it to YOUR specifications. You get the point. You could write, I am enjoying that my bed is made and my room is clean every morning."

Present Tense: make your affirmations in the present tense. For example, "I am happily enjoying an increase in sales of over 7% from 2005." Say it, write it, and feel it as if it were already happening. How would it feel to have already accomplished that goal? The feeling of emotion "as if" you're already living your dream prints it indelibly in your subconscious mind, and makes you more likely to accomplish it.

Positive: by keeping it positive, you also give your mind a "steering wheel" for the direction you want to move into. For example, you would not write, "I am enjoying no longer eating desserts." What you could write however, is " I am enjoying eating at least one salad a day." Your mind now has direction.

After starting with I am, include a feeling word and an action" word or verb. This is vitally important because, as stated earlier, the feeling generated helps you achieve your goals faster. Examples of feeling words: happily, easily, joyfully. My affirmation in 1995 for getting into the speaking business was, "I am happily conducting speaking engagements all over the world." The words "happily conducting" in the present tense helped me with what it would feel like to already be living and acheiving that goal.

Be specific with both your business and personal success goals and include action steps. Goals are nothing without action. Also, write a specific deadline under each affirmation. By what month and what year do you want to have achieved that goal? For example, on the front of the index card below my affirmation for speaking all over the world I wrote, "England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Hawaii, Alaska, and St. Thomas by December 1996." Those were the specific places where I wanted to speak, and that was my deadline.

I kept these green index cards on my nightstand, in my wallet and on my bathroom mirror. The reason...your subconcious mind is most amenable to suggestion first thing in the morning and last hour before going to bed. I would see these positive affirmations for my goals every morning upon awakening, and last thing before retiring at night. After a week, my mind started coming up with action steps for how to achieve these goals. These steps were written down on the back of the card. I began to take action steps, such as producing a video speaking in front of a group, and visualizing success.

By December 1999, I had conducted seminars and breakout sessions for conferences in all these locations. These techniques do work IF you work them. Look at your affirmations and goals at least twice a day. Close your eyes and visualize them as having already happened. Generate feeling and emotion.

What would it feel like to already be successful at having your own business or to look out at St. Martin from your balcony on a Caribbean cruise? How would you feel being recognized as the number one sales producer in your organization in addition to receiving a large bonus check? How would you feel walking down the aisle at your own wedding?

Have the right attitude. Believe that you can achieve your goals. Hold yourself accountable and get rid of excuses for why you can't accomplish something. A word of cuation: be careful with whom you share your aspirations and dreams. The key is to surround yourself with supportive people.

Lastly, have an action plan and take action. Goals are nothing without action.

Million Dollar Support System For You and For Your Business

Whether you are a consultant, coach, business owner, doctor, professional, corporate eli168Dte or student, whatever your profession is, moving towards your dream requires taking courageous steps. Making long-lasting changes requires us to create a network of support. Surrounding yourself with a community of nice-giving-good people, committed to their own growth, will give you tremendous emotional strength to move forward.

Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich, changed the lives of many successful business people. In this book, Hill shares the importance of creating and using the power of a mastermind group. A mastermind group is two or more people who come together to help each other toward the achievement of a common objective.

Do you need to improve your public speaking skills? You can attend the Toastmaster's Club. For your spiritual growth, you can attend a church and a focus group. To always be improving your professional skills, you can participate in special interest groups of your professional community.

Whenever growth requires that you move out of my Comfort Zone, can you count on a few special "nudgers" who will help you cross the border out of your comfort zone? Whenever you need to get back to the routine of exercising, do you have exercise partners to bug you until you get out of the door to accompany them to a workout. Whenever you need emotional support, can you call or meet with a few good friends and loving family members who care about you enough to listen to you?

I once thought that certain people are just more disciplined, energetic, organized, beautiful, healthy, fit, emotional stable, smarter, brighter, and higher achieving than others. Now, I am realizing that those who are so good at what they do have not only invested a great amount of time and effort but they have also surrounded themselves with people who serve to support their growth in specific areas of need.

Jack Canfield, co-author of New York Times Bestselling Chicken Soup for the Soul, once belonged to a mastermind group that included a doctor, a consultant, a photographer and another author, an expert in the area of relationship who later also became very successful. They would meet every Tuesday morning from 6:30 to 8:30 before departing for their jobs. This required a great amount of commitment. Jack has shared that everyone in the group went on to unprecedented levels of professionally and financially success.

Challenge for yourself

To you, what matters most? In which area do you need a breakthrough? Can you think of three or four other people with similar values and goals with whom you could form a mastermind group?

This is more than just forming a circle of friends. A mastermind group is formed with a specific purpose. Make your purpose clear to the participants. This will ensure that everyone is clear about the objective of the meetings.

Is it for people that want to keep their marriage sizzling hot? Is it for corporate refugees that want to change their career? Is it for business people that want to get better at communication and leadership skills? Are you all business owners who want to expand your businesses? Are you ready to form your own support group for a personal breakthrough in the areas that matter the most to you?

Spend time thinking and defining what would be the focus goals of the mastermind group. Consider these suggestions:

- Be very clear about the area of support that you need.
- List the names of people that you think you'd like to be in your group, and put in your success journal - By (XYZ day), October X, I will finish contacting all the people on the list. You may be surprised to see how many people would appreciate you taking the lead to help each other to have breakthroughs in that area of your life.
- Your objective doesn't need to be grandeur; the commitment does not need to be long-term.

A few months ago, I was in a seminar of 25 people. I wanted to learn well a new skill. So, I sent out an email inviting people to see whether anyone was interested in meeting together to sharpen that skill.

Eight people responded. Five people faithfully stayed in the group. It turned out to be a relatively easy way to pick up a skill. In six weeks, we were happy with the results we each realized and decided to end our meetings. Since then, we have kept in touch, updating each other on ways in which we creatively use the skill acquired.

From small to big, the important thing is to learn to form your own support system. If you want to go far, you need people around you.

The Mental Game And Your Burning Desire

There Are Four Types of People

Take a look at those around you and reflect on those who have influenced your life the most. What are they doing to your dreams, your esteem and your potential? They are either being destructive or constructive to your future plans. There are four types of people in this world: the Living Dead, the Dreamers, the Achievers and the Exponentially Successful. We have all met the Living Dead. They tend to suck the energy right out of us. They have given up on life and figure that if they cant be happy, you shouldnt be either. They will often do everything in their power to impede you from achieving your goals. They love to burst your dreams and remind you of all the inherent impossibilities, your past mistakes and why you cant achieve what you are aiming for. They point fingers and seek to pull you down because they see you getting closer and closer to what they wish they had themselves. Many dont tear down your dreams consciously, and they may not even realize why they feel the need to do so. Even in the face of the most intense criticism, you need to have the courage to do the things you know you need to do.

Then there are the Dreamers. Dreamers are full of great ideas. They make many noble attempts at success, but their zeal fizzles before theyve solidified that success. They have a plethora of projects perpetually hanging in the midway zone. They tend to say if only and someday and when such-and-such. These people go through life stuck in first gear. Theyre moving, theyre plugging along, but it sure is hard on the engine. They turn up the radio so the thrill of the vision drowns out the groan of the struggling machine.

The Achievers have reached a moderate level of success. They are accomplished, they are skillful, but they have not yet forged into the fire. Theyve climbed the ladder and found a pleasant view, so theyve stopped short of the thrilling vistas only a few rungs away. Theyve found a comfortable spot, so why risk toppling to the bottom now? Theyre satisfied with the success and accomplishments theyve already gained. Living on past success is easy to do. They think, Why rock the boat? Its nice to take a breather, but then that breather often grows more and more into their way of life. Lets just settle for mediocrity, they decide. They refuse to think that there is more to learn. They have made it in their own minds and cant see themselves going to the next level.

The Exponentially Successful are doing what they love. They enjoy life and others enjoy being around them. Life is exciting and they love all that life entailsthe challenges and the joys alike. The Exponentially Successful constantly strive to improve themselves. They learn from their mistakes and from the experiences of others. They read, they learn, they risk, and all along the way, they grow, no matter the situation. They are self-confident and well balanced. They have a passion for life. They know who they are, why they are here and where they are going. These are the people who make massive success look easy. Exponential success is where I want to take you. Now is the time; this is your year.

Take a look around you. Are the people in your life pulling you up or pulling you down? Are they constructive toward your future plans or destructive toward your goals, dreams and aspirations? An important trait exponentially successful people possess is their ability to follow their hearts. It does not matter what other people say or do. They know they are on the right track in pursuit of their dreams. Think what would have happened if Abraham Lincoln had listened to his critics, if Thomas Edison had taken to heart everyone who said his inventions were impossible. What if Bill Gates (while going to Harvard) listened to his counselors and stayed in school? What if Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield listened to the over 100 publishers that turned them down for Chicken Soup for the Soul and hadnt gone on to sell over 100 million copies? I could list volumes of similar stories. Ask anyone you know who is successful and I guarantee you will hear a similar story.

The Mental Game

As I said earlier, it is important to learn and take clues from others who have gone before you and experienced what you hope to experience. But make sure your study and observation of such individuals is only part of the full plate of information youre trying to absorb. Then step back and view the big picture. Its easy to get swept up in one persons energy and enthusiasm, so you have to be careful that you dont get too excited and follow them mindlessly. Even if duplication of a few successful peoples patterns yields good results, doing so is not going to be the same as if you had drawn the best advice from as many sources as possible and cultivated a personalized success pattern of your own. The more tools in your tool belt, the more equipped you will be to propel yourself higher and higher. Only th5B4en will you allow yourself to continuously maximize your present success potential while simultaneously expanding your boundaries to even greater heights. When you unearth this pattern, your passion will kick in like never before and you will begin to recognize the taste of true greatness.

If you arent sure whether or not you have chosen the right direction in your own life, dont panic. Were going to work through that together. As you read this manual, you will become more and more able to determine your focus, your passion and your direction. There are things in this life you are here to accomplish. Everyone has great ideas, goals, un-started business concepts, dreams and unwritten books inside of them. You have to realize that your mind, skills and talents are not limited natural resources.

They are not like a computer hard drive or RAM with limited storage potential. They will never run out and are only wasted if you dont use them. If you dont fulfill the mission youre here to fulfill, somebody else will have to do it for you. Dont be denied of your dreams and what you are supposed to accomplish. Remember that you are responsible for fulfilling your dreams. No one else will perform them the way you could have, and no one elses accomplishment of them will give you the joy and satisfaction that could have been yours. Until you hold yourself totally responsible, you dont own your dreamsyou are 5B4only renting them.

Burning Desire: The First Step Toward Exponential Success

When you learn to channel your energy and emotions into a burning desire, you are laying the foundation for exponential success. Desire is the first step toward ultimate achievement. Your desire will be so great that even subconsciously you will be giving every ounce that is in you toward accomplishing what you were meant to achieve. There will always be those who scoff and scorn you, calling your dreams impractical or irresponsible, but in all actuality, it is embracing whats closest to your heart that will unleash within you your greatest energy and imagination. And just like striking oil, you will experience a surge of greater productivity than you have ever had in your life. It is desire that will allow you to transform mediocre abilities into mind-boggling success that is maximized to heights above and beyond what you ever thought possible. Another word for desire is conviction. I like this word because it suggests an emotion that is even deeper within, even more driving. Soul-filled conviction has the power to pull you through every possible challenge and give you the strength to scale the highest peaks. So how do you find this conviction and tap into it? As you hone the skills in this manual and use them diligently in your daily life, your conviction will rise within you and become ever clearer. Right at this very moment, you89A have within you a power plant burning with potential energy. You have the potential to light a whole city, but you are only burning one bulb or lighting one house. The potential is there, and now is the time to tap into it.

Just as a space shuttle expends the most fuel in creating the momentum to leave the atmosphere and soar into orbit, kicking off a new plan towards exponential success also demands the greatest amount of energy and effort up front. Once the shuttle is in orbit, it expends less energy. Similarly, once youve acquired the Exponential Factor, exponential success will naturally follow and success will be yours.

How To Get Motivated and Stay Motivated

"Most people ask for happiness on condition. Happiness can only be felt if you don't set any condition." Artur Rubenstein

1) Practice patience, perseverance, and prayer. There's a story of the person who prayed, "God, please give me patience, and hurry!" In this day and age of cell phones, fax machines and instant gratification, it's easy to want what we want NOW. No one is willing to wait anymore. However, as we mature, we discover that it often takes patience, perseverance, and a lot of hard work to get the things we really want. Whether it's a promotion at work, losing weight, or having a great relationship.

If you believe in God, pray for patience, persistence and guidance. God sees the big picture. We don't. Often, looking back, we see that many of the things we just "had to have" weren't really right for us anyway.

2) Learning how to overcome procrastination helps you get motivated and stay motivated. I believe deep down most people know what they're supposed to do to improve their lives. But we procrastinate doing that activity. We just don't want to do it. Whether it's getting rid of the clutter in our home or office, cleaning up our eating habits or cleaning out the garage. Most of us know there's something we need to do that we've been procrastinating. Yet, by procrastinating a task, we end up cluttering our minds further by thinking about what we should be doing.

Again, if you have certain spiritual beliefs, just ask for the courage to do it. Turn to God. This is not something I discuss in my speaking engagements as my audiences are diverse businesspeople from different backgrounds. But asking for strength works. By admitting your weakness you will often gain strength in overcoming procrastination. And getting help in many other areas of your life as well.

Stop trying to do it all yourself. Give yourself a break. Give up some of the control. Take it in baby steps. For example, clean up just half of the garage. Or, begin that exercise program just three days a week for 30 minutes a day. Too often we fall into the "all or nothing" mentality. If we can't do it all at once, well, we simply don't do it at all!

3) Practice positive thinking.Think about what you're thinking about! I read on the internet that the number one thing people would like to change for the new year is to have a more positive attitude. Thoughts lead to words. Words lead to actions, and your actions determine your approach to your career, relationships, health and just about everything else. Positive thinking is something you often have to practice.

I am a worrier. And of all things, a motivational speaker! It's my job to help people become more productive, improve morale and stay motivated. In many cases, it's also my job to help them increase profitability. Worrying is a habit I've tried to consistently break. After all, worrying is negative thinking. Worry doesn't solve anything. It doesn't add a single day to your life. I make a conscious effort to think about what I'm thinking about. I shift my thinking to the positve whenever possible and it's becoming more of a habit. Becoming more aware of your thoughts is half the battle.

4) Eat right in order to feel happier, healthier, and stay motivated. We all know what to eat but often need to be reminded. Too many junky foods produce junky negative thoughts. Start your morning with protein to stabilize your blood sugar. Increase your daily intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. Switch to organics whenever possible toavoid exposure to harmful pesticides. If you travel a lot this isn't always easy. Do the best you can. Remember, moderation is the key. The minute you have that all or nothing approach, you set yourself up for disaster by beating yourself up for not being perfect.

See your doctor to find out what types of vitamins and minerals you should be taking. Studies show that even when we're eating at our healthiest many of us are still missing vital nutrients. Drink more water. If you're under a time crunch, and who isn't these days, try eating raw nuts such as almonds or pumpkin seeds for protein and iron. Dried fruits such as apricots, raisins and cranberries contain vital nutrients and add lots of flavor. I do this all the time when I'm conducting day-long speaking engagements. It's vital for me in keeping up my energy and blood sugar levels not to mention improved mental acuity. Find out what works for you because everyone is different.

How To Get Motivated and Stay Motivated...Choose To Be Happy In Spite of Your Circumstances

5) Make a decision that you will be happy in spite of your circumstances. Don't wait until everything is going your way in order to be content. Otherwise you will spend much of your life discontented. Avoid the "when script." For example, "When I get that promotion then I'll be happy." Or, "When I get pregnant and have children then I'll be happy." How many times have you heard people say, "Once the kids are grown and out of the house THEN I'll be happy!"

There's always that illusive "when script" projecting into the future. And just because you count on something positive to happen, doesn't mean it always does. People aren't perfect and can disappoint you. You can lose your job. Your money can disappear. Things won't always go your way. It's okay to plan ahead and set goals for where you want to be. Just make certain you're also happy where you are now.

6) Don't compare yourself to others. We tend to compare the worst in ourselves with the best in others. Don't compare your insides to someone else's outsides. This is especially true for women. In our society, we're bombarded with magazines and media projecting an unrealistic standard of what we are supposed to look like. Many magazines feature ads with supermodels who are six feet tall. Even worse, the photos have been airbrushed and retouched dozens of times. Focus on developing your own unique gifts and talents. If you're too focused on trying to be like other people, you will become discouraged, give 5B4up, and lose sight of your dream.

7) Rest, relax, and recharge completely. It's one thing to get motivated, but to stay motivated you need downtime. If you're sleepy on a weekend afternoon, take a nap. In our fast-paced American society, this is virtually impossible during the work week. America is one of the few countries in the world that doesn't take an afternoon break. Lots of scientific research has shown that lack of sleep negatively affects mood, stress levels, mental acuity, weight, and overall performance. If you're tired, you're more likely to snap. You won't be a pleasant person to be around.

8) Exercise plays an important role in getting and staying motivated. For example, many participants in my speaking engagements tell me that walking outdoors during a short lunch break is enough to reenergize them. Exercising outdoors is especially beneficial in helping reduce depression during the winter months.

While you're exercising, and driving to and from work, listen to your favorite music. One of my favorite songs is "It's On," from Boney James "Pure" CD. Very upbeat music with lots of saxophone, and serves as a huge energy booster and mood lifter for me! I'll often play it after finishing a project. It's a small but very positive reward.

9) Get out of yourself. Be grateful for what you have. Do you have enough clothing, food, and a roof over your head? Probably so. Do volunteer work, or spend time li59Dstening to a friend or family member in need. By helping others you realize that whatever your "trauma of the day" happens to be, really isn't so important after all.

Focus more on what you have, not on what you don't have. Today, make a conscious decision to be happy in spite of your circumstances.

Creating a Platform - Part 2

If you are having tr1C84ouble getting published because of a lack of a national platform, consider some of the following options. As you examine these alternatives, try to think out of the box, to creatively convince agents, editors, and publishers to give you a shot.

Some of your options are:

Writing humorously. If you're funny and can write witty, humorous books, you stand a good chance of being immunized from the platform requirement. Publishers are always looking for lively, fun-filled books and are usually open to publishing authors, even first-time authors, who don't have a platform, but can make readers laugh.

Plugging into an established book series. If a series covers important subjects and has established a brand name, it's built a following. Good examples are the Chicken Soup, Everything, and Streetwise book series. With series, the brand and reputation are what sell and are more important than the writer's platform. Publishers can plug good writers who do not have national platforms into these series, but the writers still need credentials, even if they don't need big, impressive platforms.

Being recommended by a great agent. Publishing is a relationship and reputation business. Some literary agents have such great reputations and wonderful relationships with editors that the editors will read anything the agents recommend. When they truly believe in a writer, they may put their reputation and relationship on the line by recommending an unplatformed writer's proposal. New Haven agent Don Gastwirth, of Don Gastwirth & Associates, will state in his cover letter, "This is really important to me and I think it should be important to you." "However," he cautions, "they will only read it once. So, it better be good because you are only as good as your last submission."

Hiring book publicists. Authors who are willing to hire publicists who specialize in promoting books can neutralize some of the fallout from the fact that they don't have national platforms. Publishers are familiar with publicists and how they can boost book sales. Any publicist you hire must be highly regarded by publishers and must, as part of the promotional campaign, build the author's platform.

Turn to Smaller or Niche Publishers. Although the platform requirement has penetrated all levels of publishing, some smaller and niche publishers remain committed to putting out quality books on their subjects. Many of these publishers will take on authors who lack platforms.

Attend BookExpo America, the huge annual national book trade show, and see small houses and presses--thousands of them exist. Speak with them, look at their publications and their lists to see if any of them could be a good match for you. For many writers, it's better to be an important, prized author with a small publisher than to be a small, neglected author at a big publishing house.

"When buyers are looking at books on the shelves, they're going to buy the one that seems the most authoritative for the price they're willing to pay," book packager Leanne Chearney of Amaranth declares. "Although the platform requirement has filtered down to smaller publishers, it's still more important to the large publishers; in fact, it's basically required. The only books big publishers want are books that can be blockbusters, books that they think they can break out on the bestseller list. And they don't think they can do that unless the author has a great platform. If you don't need your book to be a blockbuster or if you don't have a great platform, try sending your proposal to smaller publishers that don't place such emphasis on the bestseller list," Chearney advises.

Think Locally! Local and regional publishers can present great opportunities for writers. Often, the most important objective should be getting published, getting that initial notch in your belt, being able to say that you are a published author.

Small and regional presses can provide you with opportunities to display your writing talent. Look into the local and regional presses in your area, learn what kind of books they publish, and visit and speak with their staffs. Although they may not publish many books, they may be interested in publishing yours because you live locally. Many small presses are dedicated to writing and writers and are eager to help authors learn their trade and start their careers.

Join Forces with Professionals. When some editors receive excellent submissions from writers who have no platforms, they may try to pair them with people who have credentials and/or followings. For example, if an author who wrote a diet book doesn't have a degree in nutrition, they may try to connect him or her with a doctor or a nutritionist. Unfortunately, egos, disputes regarding responsibilities, and other problems sometimes waylay these projects. Also, authors with platforms may resist because they don't see the need for a collaborator or they may try to diminish the co-writer's role.

Pairings seem to work best when authors are matched before the actual writing begins. Then they can plan the book together, divide responsibilities, and decide how they will work.

Robyn offers this account of a successful collaboration: I'll never forget when I wanted to write a book to inspire other moms on ways to creatively encourage positive behavior in their kids. I certainly didn't know a great deal about the psychology of human behavior, but I was a former teacher and a new mom who was challenged with a busy child.

After I wrote a book on entertaining kids, my agent arranged for me to meet an editor during a trip to New York. This editor said, "Your ideas are really creative, but if you teamed up with seasoned professionals, you just might have something really marketable." So, I called up Drs. Stephen and Marianne Garber, a well-known child psychologist and his wife/partner, who was a highly regarded educational consultant, and they, too, had wanted to write a book on behavior, so the timing was meant to be.

We assembled a focus group of parents to determine what their kids were doing that they were concerned about and that drove them crazy. And the book proposal was on its way. We ended up with a list of over 100 problem behaviors, from spitting, hitting, and fighting to refusing to go to sleep and take no for an answer! That effort resulted in the book Good Behavior: Over 1,200 Sensible Solutions to Your Child's Problems from Birth to Age Twelve (Villard, Random House Publishers, 1987).

While I didn't have a Ph.D., I appeared weekly as Super Mom for my clever ideas on the local Noonday talk show on NBC in Atlanta and created a following for my how-to tips. However, I was also a real mom who tested the ideas in the book and gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from the Garbers. My voice was that I was in the trenches and brought my creative spin to the application of our ideas.

Does Positive Thinking Work?

Let's consider the antithesis to this question. Does negative thinking work?

Well, has there been a time when you have worried unduly about something? Maybe you were worried about an exam, a driving test, an interview. Chances are that your worst expectations came into fruition and even if you got the outcome you desired you recognised that you could have performed better had you not worried.

When we worry or have negative thoughts about something we are not allowing ourselves to think constructively about how to achieve what we want. We focus all our energy on the negative elements of a particular situation and what we put energy into grows.

Dr. Kathleen Hall writes in her book A Life in Balance,

"Affirmations are positive statements we tell ourselves. Our mind believes what we tell it. When you tell your brain positive information, you are feeding your brain extremely valuable food that heals your mind and body...When you tell yourself something over and over again, it gets recorded in your brain; then your mind and body believe it and you become what you have been telling yourself. A positive affirmation is a self-fulfilling prophecy."

This statement represents half of the picture because when we tell our brain, meaning our sub-conscious mind, negative information, when we repeatedly tell ourselves something which is negative it also gets recorded in the mind as if it were a true statement.

"A negative assertion is a self-fulfilling prophecy."

I was chatting to an acquaintance the other day. I could see she was tense and she was complaining of having headaches. I asked if she was worried about anything and she admitted that she was worried about a new job assignment. Now she wasn't worried about her ability to handle the assignment; she was worrying because she had this type of assignment before and didn't enjoy it. She was worrying herself sick and for no good reason.

"When you send your brain negative information, you are feeding your brain anti-nutrients that harm your mind and body."

Take getting a promotion at work. If we focus on why it's not possible to get the promotion and focus on our limitations then that's what we'll put our energy into. The presentation and or interview will roll around, we'll perform poorly, lose the opportunity and tell ourselves, "See, I knew I wasn't good enough!" "I knew I wouldn't get the promotion." We may even blame someone else "The boss doesn't like me." "Bob is more experienced than I. He was bound to get the position."

When we have these thoughts we give up our power to influence change in our lives. When we accept that we create our reality then we can choose our reality. We can become more aware players in this game called life.

So if negative thinking works then, by the Law of Polarity, the opposite must also true. As Larry King said in his introduction to a special edition of Larry King Live aired recently called The Power of Positive Thinking where he interviewed Bob Proctor, John Assaraf, Michael Beckwith, John DeMartini and JZ Knight,

"Positive thoughts can transform, can attract the good things you know you want."

However, holding on to positive thoughts is challenging. When we are born we are encoded with the genetic material of our parents and, it has been proven, with the genetic material of our ancestors that's a lot of hardwiring. We then grow up in an environment where the values of our parents and or guardians are also engrained into us whether it is 'information' that serves us in a negative or positive manner. Hence there is a lot of stuff to override. As Jack Canfield, puts it,

"We are a bundle of conditioned reflexes out of control."

We tend to put a lot of emotion into our negative thoughts compared to the emotion and energy we put into our positive thoughts. I can have a negative thought and if I don't invest too much emotion into it then I generally don't have to worry about it taking hold and manifesting itself. Unfortunately, we often invest a lot of energy and emotion into our negative thoughts and this simply serves to bring our worse fears into fruition even faster.

Conversely, when we say positive affirmations there can be an emotional detachment and a lack of consistency in saying them. Also, a lack of evidence in our visible world may cause our analytical conscious mind to filter and delete positive affirmations. Yet, if we are able to overcome this challenge and hold the thought in our mind of what we really want irrespective of our current circumstances then our outer world will eventually catch up with our inner world.

To demonstrate the power of positive thinking I'd like to go back to the 2006 Winter Olympics held in Turin, Italy. The men's Alpine skiing downhill race was won by 3 times French champion, Antoine Dnriaz. Dnriaz says,

"since time that I said myself, "One day you will be World Champion, Olympic Champion"

But Dnriaz was not expected to win. He had performed no better than sixth in a World Cup race this season. The commentators and many of the other competitors all talked about how tough the course was. The course also was getting progressively more demanding as the day wore on and more and more runs were completed.

Dnriaz was also the last of 30 seeded skiiers. None of this deterred Dnriaz. He knew he had a job to complete plus there was champagne waiting for him to drink.

You see Dnriaz had been applying the power of positive thinking to the extent he was so confident he was going to win and become Olympic Champion he bought champagne to celebrate beforehand!

Dnriaz skiied beautifully and won emphatically in a time of 1:48.80 stealing what had, until that point, looked like a sure gold medal, from Michael Walchhofer from Austria (1:49.52). Bruno Kernen of Switzerland was third with a time of 1:49.82.

The top US skier, Bode Miller, said in an interview afterwards,

"The way Dnriaz skied today, he was pretty much untouchable."

That positive thinking works can be proven scientifically. You, undoubtedly, will have heard of The Science of Getting Rich and The Science of Being Well. Positive thinking is "The Science of Getting What You Want".

Beat Stress Now! 10 Easy Tips

"Never complain about your troubles; they are responsible for more than half of your income." Robert R. Updegraff

Everyone's busy. Today many of us feel added pressure with fax machines, cell phones, kids and co-workers. The average worker fields 52 phone calls, 36 emails and 23 voice mails a day. And, the holidays and the stress that sometimes comes with it are fast approaching. Here are 10 quick and easy tips for managing stress. Please feel free to share them with your friends and colleagues.

1) Focus on your strengths notB68 on your weaknesses. Perfectionists take note: the average American is 32 years old, married, laughs 15 times a day, and has 27 trillion fat cells. Nobody's perfect. Beat stress by going easy on yourself. Focus on your strengths and work on your weaknesses. Don't obsess over your weaknesses because perfectionism often leads to procrastination.

2) Get up in the morning 30 minutes earlier.Start your day with solitude and more clarity by rising a half hour earlier than those in your household. Spend quiet time journaling, praying or meditating. Just begin by writing your thoughts, dreams, goals and fears. Start thinking about how to organize your day.

3) Break the worry habit. 95% of what you worry about never happens. Ask yourself, "Even if the worst happened, what could I learn from this experience?" Have a plan B just in case.

4) Spend time outdoors and out in nature. Especially in fall and winter when the days get shorter, it's important to spend time outdoors every day in the natural daylight. Even if it's gray and overcast, research shows that time spent in daylight, especially in the morning, helps reduce Seasonal Affect Disorder or "SAD." Where I live in the Pacific Northwest, I can actually notice a positive shift in my mood and that of others when late spring arrives and it's light until 8:45 p.m.

5) Remember the formula E + R = 0. Event + (your) Reaction = Outcome. You can't always controls the events or outside circumstances around you, but you CAN control how you react. This isn't a new concept, but sometimes we need to be reminded of it. Most of us spend more time worrying about the things outside of our control. I conducted a speaking engagement recently in Seattle on "Dealing with Difficult People." I reminded everyone of the importance that their response plays in determining their outcomes.

6) Laughter is a serious business! Laugh to reduce stress. It's a well-known fact that laughter helps reduce stress and build the immune system. Laughter IS the best medicine. It gets those endorphins or "feel-good" hormones into the brain and elevates your mood.

7) Don't overreact when dealing with difficult people - especially antagonists. Antagonists, otherwise known as "pot stirrers," often have a desire for dissention. They're looking to purposely rattle your cage, ruffle your feathers, and get you to say something you'll regret. As Zig Ziglar once said, "No one can get your goat if they don't know where it's tied up."

8) Reward yourself for a job well done. Indulge in a massage, manicure or pedicure. Recently I had the glorious pleasure of staying at the Phoenician hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona. Splurging on an hour-plus massage worked wonders! Not to mention laying out by the pool enjoying the beautiful desert scenery of Camelback Mountain, and later, Sedona.

9) Check your adult at the door. Act like a kid again! 977Play, run, engage in a favorite sport or hobby like golf, tennis, or hanging out with your children at the park. Make sure to have a date night with your spouse or significant other. Take a day off and play at the beach doing something you haven't done in years like playing Frisbee or building sand castles.

10) Cultivate an attitude of gratitude. List 10 things you're grateful to have in your life. Revisit and appreciate the simplest of pleasures. Sip your favorite cup of gourmet coffee. Sit outside in the springtime in the garden of a friend's house. Enjoy sunset on the coast. Appreciate the feeling of being more energized after a workout. Be grateful for your health.

Decide today to make a commitment to do one activity that will reduce stress and maximize success. Do it now. What you do in the present determines your future. Enjoy!

How To Boost Your Happiness

You want to be happy. I want to be happy. Everyone wants to be happy. "Happiness", according to Aristotle, "is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence." How is it, then, that the rates of depression in the U.S. are ten times higher than 50 years ago, and the average age for its onset is 14 compared to 29 in 1960? Where have we gone wrong?

The revolutionary Positive Psychology Movement has ushered in the Science of Happiness. New research helps clarify the concept. It is in our nature to pursue happiness and we can learn how to create it.

A psychology researcher, Sonja Lyubomirsky,* studied the behaviors and practices that make people happy. These are her eight "Happiness Boosters":

1. Count your blessings. Every day write down what you are grateful for.
2. Practice acts of kindness. This makes you feel generous and capable, gives you a greater sense of connection with others, wins approval and reciprocated kindness.
3. Savor life's joys. Notice the momentary wonder, delight, and simple pleasures of life.
4. Express gratitude and appreciation often.
5. Learn to forgive. Let go of anger for others; forgiving frees you and allows you to move on.
6. Invest time and energy in family and friends. Close relationships seem to be the most important factor for a satisfying life.
7. Take care of your body on a regular basis. Get enough sleep, stretching, and exercising. Laughing can lift your mood and make your days more satisfying.
8. Develop strategies for coping with stress and hardships. Find beliefs and other resources that help you get through the tough times.

In his book Authentic Happiness, Dr. Martin Seligman discusses the Three Roads to a Happy, Satisfied Life:

• Pleasure
• Engagement - depth of involvement, and
• Meaning - using personal strengths to serve a larger end.

Even though many Americans build their lives around the pursuit of pleasure, it is actually the least consequential. The other two - engagement and meaning - are much more important for happiness.

How you define the word is crucial. When the word "happy" is defined too broadly, it can be a set-up for misery, i.e. "happily ever after" is a myth. When it is too narrowly defined it will also lead to misery, i.e. "I'll be happy if he buys me emerald earrings for my birthday". When your definition is "just right", you can find happiness everyday, everywhere, in the momentary wonder, delight and simple pleasures of life. They're there. Don't miss them! Then savor the good feelings.

Charlie Brown had it all figured out. Here's his wisdom from the finale of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown":

• Happiness is learning to whistle.
• Happiness is walking hand in hand.
• Happiness is climbing a tree.
• Happiness is having a sister, and getting along.
• Happiness is anyone and anything at all that's loved by you.

These three diverse authorities point to what's most important: close relationships with caring people, and knowing how to get along. This is Social Intelligence. Lucky kids learn these skills early on in their families. The rest of us - myself included - learn from our mistakes, and from other people's mistakes, and from reading books and taking classes.

The problem is, many of us were taught the wrong things! Like having to be perfect. Like always looking for faults and weaknesses - and missing the good stuff. Like having to win - at another's expense. Like comparing ourselves with everyone else, usually unfavorably. Like disrespecting ourselves and other people. As a result we suffer from low self-esteem and unhappiness. Without knowing it, we have all downloaded bad information. But now we are smarter. We can examine the "glitches" and "bugs" in our "programming" - and make necessary corrections. Learning new ideas and new skills can help us be happier. As we grow, our self-esteem and relationships improve, and we'll notice that we are smiling more often.

Happiness includes contentment, satisfaction, well-being, joy, pleasure, gratitude, and appreciation. The secret to lasting fulfillment, according to the book, Happier, by Tal Ben-Shahar: 1) goals that bring us meaning and direction in life, and 2) playing and having fun on a daily basis. Following these prescriptions and guidelines, we can create happiness ever after - one day at a time.

2008 Dr. Louise Hart is parent educator, author, mom and grandmother.

Louise wrote two books packed with information about improving happiness and self-esteem. Jack Canfield (author of Chicken Soup for the Soul) praised On the Wings of Self-Esteem: "It's a wonderful book! If everyone in America read this book and did the recommended exercises, half of all the pain and suffering we now experience would disappear."

The Winning Family: Increasing Self-Esteem in Your Children and Yourself, can help you change negative patterns and create more happiness. Are You Ready? Speeding Up Your Success With Home Based Business Opportunities

"You're the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with." I was listening to a Jack Canfield call and I've probably heard versions of this fact before, but it finally hit me. Good grief! This is why it's so difficult for people to break out of the "rat race." When a person is focusing on improving their thought life, as is needed for an abundance of success, this is thought should be a guiding factor.

I speak with people that say that they would like the time, money and freedom that a home business would allow, but in the end, their actions show differently. Case in point. People working a 9-5 job are surrounded by people that apparently are happy with that situation or at least willing to tolerate it. If you are one who has a strong desire to build your own business, it will take much discipline because if you don't make a conscious effort to surround yourself with people of a "higher level" of thinking, you will stay where you are based on this premise. When I say "higher level", I mean it in the sense that if you want to grow into a person that makes a six figure income, that's who you want to hang around. Your associations will elevate your status and way of thinking. It can be difficult to break from the group.

Both my husband and I applied this same principle when we had the desire to be married. We socialized with married folks as much as we could. We wanted to model what they were doing so we were ready when our eventual mate came into our lives. It's all about being prepared when the big opportunity comes your way. If a million dollar idea comes along and your circle of influence is thinking more like the $15,000 a year range, how far do you think it will go?

Did you know that - you can surround yourself with uplifting people via phone, mp3 or other media? The people that you allow to be most influential in your life can be the people you aspire to be like or can be your guide and teachers, if you choose. You may have to immerse yourself in personal growth recordings or hire a success coach. But the bottom line is: if you want to improve, you'll have to do whatever it takes. If you are a person that is searching to climb to a higher level in any part of your life, you will have to make a concerted effort. So apply this principle in any area of your life, better health, better relationships, stronger finances.

A high caliber life can be achieved! Surround yourself with people that have blazed a trail and follow their lead.

And you can easily get started by associating with success in business, Bobbi Jo Frazier is a recognized for coaching new entrepreneurs. Her web site, http://www.ahomebusinessthatworks.info provides a wealth of resources to get you started in developing a better mindset for abundant success.

Reinvented Baby Boomers

Baby boomers are reinventing a whole new anti-aging lifestyle that has never been experienced before in human history. The boomers modern1147 day focus has shifted from traditional aging to investing in living the good life through anti-aging techniques hidden from the masses for centuries by the powers that be. The boomers new viewpoint is fired by a passion for living life to the hilt with an uplifting, can do attitude.

Baby boomers are no longer willing to sit back and accept or tolerate the limitations of aging. Moreover, they are out in the world making a powerful mission statement, with 50, 60, and 70+ now being the new 30, all because of their lively, unlimited attitude and enthusiasm for life.

So, what are the secrets to longevity?

1. Transcending the myths of aging: The first step to anti-aging is to filter out the myths and misconceptions of aging such as: chronological age limiting your true inner age, negative jokes about aging, being over the hill at any age, suggestions of pre-determined health problems at certain ages, magazine articles exhibiting the down side of aging, and books focusing on suggested age related problems, wrinkles, and health issues. These are powerful images, which can invade your conscious and subconscious minds. As these images penetrate your consciousness, they have the power to form destructive thought pictures that can manifest in your life if you allow them to become your reality.

2. Discovering your timeless relationship with life: By discovering how to rise above the dual energy of cause and effect, beyond the limitations of aging, you become the timeless observer, overlooking the magnetic field of positive and negative energy above time. If you had no relationship to when you were born, where you were born, or who your parents were, what age would you believe yourself to be? By adopting a timeless overview, you are no longer limited by your chronological age.

3. Benefits of anti-aging: You come to the awareness that as your Spiritual self, Soul, you are eternal and never die. This understanding removes the fear of death. Baby boomers have an intuitive understanding of this principle, which has motivated them to seek out the deeper secrets of longevity. By opening your consciousness to these eternal secrets, you come to realize that Soul is the driver of your body in the same way that you are the driver of your automobile. The car cannot drive itself any more than your body can drive itself. Soul is your eternal driver, illuminating your human body with an ageless glow.

This is the lost anti-aging Fountain of Youth men and women have been searching for since the beginning of time.

November Reminder: Kennedy Assassination had Mississippi Roots

On Friday November 22, 1963, news bulletins hit the airwaves as rifle shots interrupted President John F. Kennedy's Dallas motorcade. The resulting three-day news marathon concluded only after the young president was buried.

Reporters moved on to the investigative phase of JFK's assassination but finally left the topic for fresh news. Yet conspiracy theorists and others have kept the debate alive over what happened forty-two years ago, who was involved, and why.

Interestingly, there are numerous asides to Mississippi's civil rights story but perhaps none quite so compelling (and less known) as this: Seven years before JFK was assassinated, the magnolia state's Sen. James O. Eastland met for the first time with Guy Banister, a controversial CIA operative and retired FBI agent in charge of the Chicago bureau.

Banister -- remember him as the man who "pistol-whipped" David Ferrie in Oliver Stone's film "JFK" -- was later linked to Lee Harvey Oswald and Mississippi's senator through Eastland's Senate Internal Security Subcommittee or SISS (sometimes called "SISSY").

The New Orleans Times-Picayune on March 23, 1956, reported that Robert Morrison, a former chief counsel for Sen. Joseph McCarthy's House Unamerican Activities Committee or HUAC, and Banister traveled to Greenwood, Mississippi, to confer personally with Senator Eastland for more than three hours. Describing the conference as "completely satisfactory," Mo16D0rrison told the reporter that "Mr. Banister has complete liaison with the committee's staff which was the main object of our trip."

Apparently cozying up to Eastland and "SISSY" was Banister's goal. And it worked.

Known as a notorious political extremist who was later described as the impetus for James Garrisons 1967-1970 Kennedy assassination probe, Banister earlier became a brief focus of Mississippi's secret spy agency, the Sovereignty Commission, when it was suggested Banister should be hired to set up an "even tighter" domestic spying system throughout the state.

A second Eastland operative, private investigator John D. Sullivan of Vicksburg, made this suggestion to the commission just months after the JFK assasination, according to released Sovereignty Commission records.

Former FBI agent Sullivan had worked under Banister (both inside the FBI and privately) and as a private self-employed investigator who often did work for hire for the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission; the private white Citizens Councils, of which he was an active member; and for SISS, as had Banister and Lee Harvey Oswald.

When Sullivan reportedly committed suicide following the assassination, Sovereignty Commission investigators tried to acquire his library and files, but most of his confidential files were either reportedly burned by his widow or they had been lent out, and she "could not remember" who had them, Sovereignty Commission files disclose.

Then some twenty-nine years later, in testimony before the Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board during a Dallas hearing on November 18, 1994, the late Senator Eastland was directly implicated in the presidents assassination by one of the author/theorists invited to testify.

Lee Harvey Oswald was quite possibly an agent of the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee and he was doing the bidding of [Sen. Thomas J.] Dodd and Eastland and Morrison, author John McLaughlin swore.

Documentation that could support or even discredit such assertions could perhaps be present in the Eastland archives at the University of Mississippi, but no objective scholar has been allowed to search these archives since the day they arrived on campus. Instead, Eastland's records were managed for years by a former associate and devot who followed the papers from Washington, D.C. to Oxford.

Finally in 2005, after an unsuccessful Freedom of Information Act or FOIA request by this author, a historian was hired to organize the archives based in the James O. Eastland School of Law at Ole Miss. But there would still be a waiting period before any of the files could be viewed, according to the school's dean.

The plan was to release first all press releases, according to the historian who also confirmed that"many important files" were probably missing -- that the files looked cleaned out.

(The Dean of the law school, when presented a FOIA for access to Eastland archives, asked while laughing if he could just show the rejection letter written to the last person who asked for this information." Later it came back to this author that people at Ole Miss were really angry over the FOIA request.)

Think And Grow Rich - Nonsense!

It's ironic that on the eve of Ted Ciuba's recent launch of his "The New Think And Grow Rich" that I heard another internet marketer, Matt Bacak say in a teleseminar that the original Think And Grow Rich should be tossed out and not in favour of an updated version. However, Bacak was not totally denouncing this legendary book which many have said has deeply influenced their lives and helped them to strike it rich. For instance, W Clement Stone, a multi-millionaire and mentor to America's Success Coach, Jack Canfield said,

"One of the most important days of my life was the day I began to read Think and Grow Rich."

International best-selling author of "You Were Born Rich", Bob Proctor, also credits this book to contributing to his phenomenal success. And here I was listening to Bacak suggesting that the title of this classic should at least be re-worked to "Act and Grow Rich".

Somehow it doesn't have the same ring to it but I do understand where he is coming from. There is a lot of talk about developing a wealth mindset in order to successfully accumulate wealth and I believe this to be absolutely fundamental. However, Bacak's point was that many people stop short here. They don't follow through. They don't take action. I agree with this as well.

However, I also think that if this is the case then there's a piece missing in their personal success puzzle, that somehow the mental conditioning or, I should say, mental re-conditioning has not been thorough enough. If it had been, they would take action. They would do the steps needed to create the results they desire in their life.

It's kinda like the chicken and egg theory. If you believe that everything begins as a thought or an idea, then it follows that thought must precede any action whether it leads to poverty or wealth. Therefore, Napoleon Hill's book, though outdated in some areas, and Ted Ciuba updated, "super-charged" version are apt in their titles.

So why is success so elusive for so many people? Let's take a look at what constitutes success. There are many definitions for success but one of my favourites is that of Earl Nightingale:

Success is the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal."

Bob Proctor, describes an "ideal" can be described as an idea that you fall in love with. Herein lies the first clue as to why so many people do not succeed. They simply are not "in love" with or committed to the idea of the thing they say they want. It would be nice to achieve it but if not, no big deal.

Commitment is important for other reasons. Without it you will not have the mental stamina to withstand the potential opposition, ridicule and rejection that your idea might receive and you will most likely abandon your idea at the first hurdle.

Another reason why success can be elusive is because we do not fully understand the creative process. We over-rely on our physical senses. We believe in that which we can see, hear, smell, taste and touch.

"Faith is to believe what you do not yet see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believe." St Augustine

It is a difficult concept for many to accept that we are creative thinking centres. We forget that everything around us, everything, existed first as thought - an idea. When you can hold an idea or thought in your mind you have created your thing on the first plane of existence.

This brings me to my next point, why sometimes we do not succeed. It is our inability to hold consistent thoughts. Many people's minds are a battleground of conflicting thoughts and ideas. Such a state creates turmoil; not only in that person's mind but also in their body eventually resulting is disease for a diseased body is simply a body which is not at ease. Such inner turmoil also leads to an inability to take effective action.

Anyone who has ever meditated will appreciate that holding a single thought in one's mind is a challenging task. However, meditation is one way in which to develop your mental fortitude.

"Because you counter the majority of your thoughts with opposing thoughts, you believe that you are not powerful. When you no longer split your flow of energy with contradictory thoughts, you will know your power." Abraham-Hicks

Dr Robert Anthony, author of "The Secret of Doing Without Doing" says that we just don't comprehend the power of our thoughts and so we focus on our actions with the result that,

"If you analyse it, 90% of most people's actions are spent trying to compensate for inappropriate thought."

It's like we are trying to get our own way through force and the Universe mocks us when we do so. However, when we work with Universal Laws then our progress becomes virtually effortless. The things, people and resources that we need are drawn to us.

Dr Robert Anthony reminds us that action is the last step in the process of creation.

"Actions are necessary, but they are the last component of the creation processes. Actions cannot be used effectively to initiate results, because initiation of the function of BEING, then thought, then action."

Mat5B0t Bacak was right we do need to take action but when we do so without investing in thinking about what we desire and developing the right mindset then we end up doing a lot of work with little to show for it.

When you can fully align yourself with the vibrational energy of being rich which is achieved through thought, then the actions you need to take will be shown to you. The hard work lies in the thinking.

So it would appear that to think and grow rich is in no sense nonsense!

Law of Attraction - Vibration Therapy

We invest time and energy in healing our skin, our relationships, our colons, our cars and many other "things" in life. But many of us ignore the most important therapy we could attend to: our vibration.

Simply put, your vibration is the energy you broadcast according to your thoughts and feelings. We know that everything in the Universe is made of energy, including us, and our thoughts and feelings. Your vibration is that culmination of energy.

If you're feeling hopeful, you're vibration is "hope," and you'll attract things that will inspire you to feel more hope. If you're thinking about how awful your job is, your vibe 111Cis "awful" and you'll attract more reasons to feel awful.

Your vibration dictates what you experience in life. As you vibrate, you attract. Paying attention to - and more specifically, improving - your vibration is time well spent.

Tending to your vibe allows you to deliberately dial into an energy that attracts what you want in life. Yes, we're talking about the Law of Attraction and how "form follows thought."

Since we get what we vibrate, virtually everyone can benefit from a little vibration therapy. How do we do that? Boiled down to the basics, vibration therapy is about feeling good. Here are four tried and true methods to easily move up the energetic spectrum, putting you in better alignment with the good things you want. (Which is, of course, how we get them.)

Release Resistance

Whenever you push against something, you're actually vibrating it. When I don't want my boyfriend to be late, I'm vibrating "late boyfriend." When we lobby for stronger anti-cruelty animal laws, we vibrate "cruelty to animals." When we complain about drug-dealing neighbors, we vibrate exactly that. So resisting anything actually tangles you up in it even more.

We get what we vibrate.

One of the best ways to rehabilitate your vibration is to stop pushing against what you don't want. Make peace with what is, and stop fighting against reality.

That doesn't mean you're stuck with what is, or that your current reality is what you're doomed to live forever. It does mean the first step in changing what you're living is giving up the fight against it.

Releasing the resistance to what you're fighting against offers immediate relief to your vibration. You'll feel an instant boost when you make peace with what is.

Eliminate Tolerations

Some believe tolerance is a virtue; a trait to embrace. But in truth tolerations aren't necessarily good for your vibration.

From the Latin tolerare, which means to "bear" or "endure," you can get a sense for why a toleration would be a drag on your energy. (Hint: it's not the same as making peace with!)

To tolerate something means to "allow the existence of, to permit or endure or put up with something." This implies that the something (or someone) is less than ideal and tends to drain a person's energy. Thus, a toleration is often a hindering influence to our vibration.

So how do you eliminate tolerations? First you identify them. Jack Canfield suggests making an "irritations list" of the things that bother you or otherwise siphon off your energy.

You'll likely find irritations in all areas of life: physical environment, financial, relationships, personal health, etc. After you've identified what's bothering you, get each one handled in whatever way feels best. Clean it, repair it, throw it out, hire help, delegate it, change your habit, or even just change your mind about letting it bother you. There are a variety of ways to eliminate the tolerations in your life. Get creative!

As you unload what doesn't feel good, you'll notice a significant improvement in your vibration.

Find Your Feel Good

Your inner guidance speaks to you throughout the day, giving its two cents worth about what actions to take, what to do, not do, what direction to take. Most of us have learned to tune out that information, but reconnecting with it is a powerful way to find your "feel good."

As you follow your feel good, your vibration naturally buoys up to the heights that will serve you best.

It can be as simple as saying no to invites you don't want to attend; to giving away the jeans that make you feel big; to walking barefoot in the long green grass; holding up traffic to let the other car in.

Sometimes finding what feels good may be too far a stretch, and the best we can reach for is what feels better. Wherever you're at currently, just reach for something that feels better. That'll move your energy up the vibrational scale.

Get Selfish

Most of us are well-trained to put others first; our family, employers, spouses, neighbors, etc. We often end up last on a long list of higher priorities.

And yet, if we aren't doing ourselves first, we don't have anything to offer. If you are not fulfilled, who are you 5B4for others? Empty, unsatisfied, tired and joyless. In that state, what good are you to anyone else anyway?

Realizing you can't give away what you don't own makes it easier to release reluctance in putting yourself on the front burner. Treating yourself as well as you do others allows your energy to hit lofty heights. And once you're in that territory, you are of much more benefit to the rest of the world.

Remember, the reason it's important to manage your vibration and work up the energetic scale is because that's how we get in alignment with the good things we want. Whether it's material possessions like an avenues loft, hybrid car, new ipod or more abstract things like a fulfilling relationship, optimal health, satisfying livelihood - vibrating at the higher end of the scale is what allows those things to manifest.

As dictated by the Law of Attraction, good things happen when we feel good. Indulging in some vibration therapy will elevate you to the heights that allow those good things in.
